Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 12, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Bgram (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use the service hosted at blog.matthills.ca. Bgram is a small, self-hosted, invite-only service operated by an individual. We collect only what is needed to run it.
Information we collect
- Account information — username, display name, email address, and either a hashed password or, if you sign in with Google, your Google account identifier and profile picture.
- Content you create — posts (images, videos, or text), captions, comments, and likes.
- Optional location data — if you add a location to a post, we store its coordinates and place name. Photos may contain embedded metadata (e.g., camera model, date taken); this is only shown to signed-in users.
- Security and technical data — we log failed sign-in attempts (time and IP address) to protect accounts, and use a session cookie to keep you signed in.
How we use information
- To provide and operate the service (authentication, posting, comments, likes).
- To secure accounts and prevent abuse.
We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.
How information is stored and shared
- Account data is stored in a self-hosted database; media files are stored in self-hosted object storage. Access is limited to the site administrator.
- We do not share your information with third parties, except:
- Google, if you choose to sign in with Google (governed by Google’s Privacy Policy).
- Where required by law.
- Media is served through the application; private posts are only accessible to signed-in users.
Your choices and rights
- You can edit or delete your own posts and comments.
- You can change your password and connect or disconnect Google sign-in from your profile.
- To access, correct, or delete your account and associated data, contact the administrator at mattintech@gmail.com.
Data retention
We keep your account and content until you or the administrator delete them.
Children
Bgram is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date reflects the latest version.
